Many of you may have wondered how these Wordpress blogs are being setup and maintained? Is it too technical to set it up or is it too complicated for a novice guy to set it up and maintain. Today, i will talk about how to setup a self hosted wordpress blog/site and what stuff you need for doing this.
WHAT A SELF HOSTED WORDPRESS SITE/BLOG IS
The first thing many of you wonder what is a self hosted wordpress blog is? Basically its a blog/website hosted on a server (Shared hosting or dedicated) and you need to pay monthly or yearly fees for the hosting you use for your wordpress blog. The self hosting provides you the full control over the blog and its content.

WHAT YOU NEED TO START A BLOG
1. Domain Name
2. Hosting – Shared or dedicated.
3. Wordpress being setup on your hosting.
You need to buy a domain name which will be used for your blog or website. You can buy a domain name easily from domain registrars like Enome or Go Daddy for approximately $10 per year.
After that you need to buy a hosting package where you will be hosting your blog or website. At starting phase of blog when the traffic is low and the blog is small, you can use Shared Hosting for hosting your blog. You can buy shared hosting from any reliable webhost like Dreamhost.
After this, you need to Install Wordpress on your shared host. Also you need to configure your domain name to point to your webhost (if required). IF you have bought the domain name and Hosting from same service provider, the configuration of domain name and hosting would be done automatically by your hosting provider otherwise you have to do the configuration.
The installation of Wordpress is almost a single click job as most of the hosting companies provide one click installers. This involves creation of a database for your wordpress installation( I would be covering this topic in my next post on how to install wordpress on your Shared Hosting).
If you would like to familiarize yourself by using Wordpress on your own system, read this post on how to install Wordpress on your local computer. After you are done with wordpress installation, you can start posting your articles easily.
